Instead of returning 0 or 1, we'll now use ECMD_OK or ECMD_TURN.
These have the same meaning as the hardcoded numbers; ECMD_TURN
means the command uses a turn.
In future, could add eg. a flag denoting "user cancelled command"
or "command failed", and should clear eg. the cmdq.
Mostly this was simply replacing return values with the defines
in the extended commands, so hopefully I didn't break anything.
Indent all labels one space. Having uniform placement makes spotting
them much easier. (Having no indent at all would impact the change
bars of 'git diff'. Those display the last unindented line--which
doesn't start with punctuation--occuring before each band of changes,
so usually the name of the function being changed now that we no
longer have unindented K&R-style function argument declarations.)
While in there, shorten or split various wide lines and replace a few
tabs with spaces.
Replace some
(foo &&
bar)
that had crept back into the code with
(foo
&& bar)
to match the reformatting which took place before 3.6.0. There are a
couple of lines ending in '||' still present but they look intentional.
isaac64.c has some trailing '|' bit operators that could/should be
moved to the start of the next line but I didn't touch that file.
While in the affected files, I tried to shorten most overly wide lines
(the right margin is supposed to at column 78 and there are quite a
few lines which are 79 characters long, but I left most of those
rather than introduce new line splits). Also replace a handful of
tabs with spaces. I was a little surprised not find any trailing
spaces (in the dozen or so files being updated). I didn't look for
trailing arithmetic or '?'/':' operators which aught to be moved to
the start of the next line.
If hero has intrinsic see-invisible and a gremlin steals that, the
map wasn't being updated to hide invisible monsters (until the next
iteration of moveloop() after other monsters finished current turn).
Keep track of the highest value that u.uhpmax and u.uenmax have
attained, in new u.uhppeak and u.uenpeak. They aren't used for
anything yet. u.mhmax (max HP while polymorphed) isn't interesting
enough to track.
Not save and bones compatible so increments EDITLEVEL.
From 8 years ago, sitting on a throne and getting the confers-see-
invisible result gave "your vision becomes clear" message even when
hero was blind (who stays blind at the time). Give an alternate
message if hero is blind, with another alternate when the blindless
is due to being poly'd into something without eyes.
Prayer reward can already uncurse a cursed saddle because hero is
stuck on it. Allow scroll/spell of remove curse to do so too.
The original riding implementation in slash'em operated with the
saddle in hero's inventory rather than in the steed's, so it would
have handled this without any extra effort. Presumeably that was
overlooked when incorporating riding into nethack changed it to
have saddle be part of the steed's inventory instead of hero's.
When GOLDOBJ was activated unconditionally, several texts started referencing
"money" instead of "gold".
As we don't have the intention to introduce a complex coin system with
different denominations, change it back and also some other places that
reference "money".
Changing an inventory item's bknown flag wasn't followed by a call to
update_inventory() in many circumstances, so information which should
have appeared wasn't showing up until some other event triggered an
update.
Generally, fish should lay their eggs in the water and
not on land, but the game was only allowing the opposite.
Eels are catadromous and lay their eggs in the Sargasso Sea,
not in the dungeon.
struct rm.flags in overloaded for a bunch of rm.typ -dependent things
(doormask, altarmask, throne/fountain/sink looted, a few others) and
wasn't being reset for various cases where rm.typ gets changed.
I've changed a lot, some no doubt unnecessarily, and probably missed
plenty. This compiles but has not been thoroughly tested.
Use the make_foo() intrinsic set/reset routines instead of trying
to manipulate the intrinsics directly. Previous patch left Dex
down by 1 if stoning caused wounded legs to be fixed, and left
delayed killer allocated if stoning cured sliming or vice versa.
This was sitting around for several years. When positive luck
lessens a negative effect from sitting on a throne, reduce luck so
that repeated occurances will eventually get the intended result.
Blindness due to face covered by pie was ignored for several cases
of magically curing blindness--cleaning the face seems better than
adjusting timeout to account for u.ucreamed for those cases. A few
instances of taking stun or confusion damage overrode existing stun
or confusion rather than increasing it. Plus a copy/paste mistake
for dual stun+confusion when casting an expired spell.
There was also a suggestion that vomiting when already nauseated
should decrement the timer instead of increasing it. But there is a
negative effect for as long as it's in effect, so I left that as is.
Replace instances of strings split across lines which rely on C89/C90
implicit concatenation of string literals to splice them together
with single strings that are outdented relative to the code that uses
them. It's uglier but it won't break compile for pre-ANSI compilers.
This covers many files in src/ that only have one or two such split
strings. There are several more files which have three or more. Those
will eventually be '(2 of 2)'.
Noticed along the way: the fake mail message/subject
Report bugs to devteam@nethack.org.
wasn't using its format string of "Report bugs to %s.", so would have
just shown our email address. Doesn't anybody enable fake mail anymore?
I modified that format to enclose the address within angle brackets and
made a similar change for the 'contact' choice of the '?' command.
I'll push a formatting guide at some point. There may still be
outstanding changes, but please feel free to resolve those as you arrive
a them.
To the best of my knowledge, there is no changes to the actual code
content, but the formatter does have the occasional bug. If you run into
an issue, please fix it!
From a bug report, sitting while
swallowed gave "you are sitting on air," and the intended message "there are
no seats in here" was never reached. Move the latter so that it works, and
add a new one when you try to sit while a grabber is holding on to you.
Also add theft vs donning fixes entry which was left out two days ago.
Simplify many of the intrinsics macros from
#define xxx_resistance (Hxxx || Exxx || resists_xxx(&youmonst))
down to
#define xxx_resistance (Hxxx || Exxx)
by setting or clearing an extra bit in Hxxx during polymorph so that the
resists_xxx() check becomes implicit.
Unfornately there were lots of places in the code that treat Hxxx
as a timeout number--primarily for Stunned, Confused, and Hallucination;
Stunned happens to be one of the revised macros--rather than as a bit
mask, so this patch needed a lot more changes than originally antipated.
From a bug report: entering lava cures sliming,
but if you got [re-]afflicted by green slime after becoming stuck in lava,
#sit failed to cure it. Fix that, and have sinking farther into lava cure
it too (although not necessarily right away).
Also, suppress leaving the corpse in a bones file for death caused by
being dissolved in lava. Lastly, suppress the "you rise from the dead as
a <monster>" message during bones creation when the game ends due to being
turned into green slime since you transformed rather than died (and sliming
timeout gives "you have become green slime" just prior to that).
