Refinement of the digging code:
* Picks should not chop down trees, but axes should.
* Picks should break walls, rock, statues, and boulders; axes shouldn't.
* Either picks or axes should chop down doors.
Replace "feature_toggle" implementation with an easier-to-understand
boolean option called "lootabc".
Provide "showrace", an option to display the hero by race glyph rather
than by role glyph.
Document the above.
Remove some obsolete Mac options.
Fix a documentation inaccuracy pointed out by Michael. Intended for
the 3.4.0 source tarball, even though it was submitted after the
code freeze. Does not affect compiled binaries.
Changes to the resource file used for the Macintosh port.
Specifically, remove hardcoded version string and popup dialogs.
This is formatted with BinHex so it can be stored on non-Mac
systems without losing the resource fork. Though it is text,
it is not intended to be human-readable.
Inspired by the new data.base entry for Archaeologists.
Adds some "X marks the spot" engravings on the Arc locate
level. A simple "X" engraving would be more accurate to
the pirate map legend, but players probably wouldn't get the
joke without an explanation.
Give names to remaining town levels.
Change elements in College Town that don't follow theme.
Remove isolated niche and helm of brilliance from end #3.
Players wielding a lance while riding will "joust" monsters
they attack.
Note that monsters don't get pushed into inaccessable tiles such
as walls, doors, iron bars, water, or lava; they stay at the edge.
Further refinements are possible for these cases.
This patch allows the digits 0-9 to be used to indicate line numbers
in the MAP...ENDMAP arrays of level files. This makes it a wee
bit easier to place features. The digits get stripped out before
the map is interpreted.
Implement a patch which <Someone> posted on the newsgroup back in September:
"If I had my druthers, daggers would be chosen over other
weapons if there's no missiles or suitable ammo available, and weapons
not designed for throwing wouldn't be chosen at all."
This patch adds several new levels from <Someone>'s Gnomish
Mines patch, after devteam revision.
The ordering of levels in mines.des has also been cleaned up.
A number of players have complained that Sokoban can be rendered
unsolvable without "creative nethacking" when monsters zap wands of
digging. This patch prevents monsters from selecting wands of
digging in Sokoban.
Note that we can't simply make Sokoban HARDFLOOR, as that causes
problems with the hole generation code.
